What’s up in Dubai

American business is far to concerned with setting up shop in Dubai (Middle East).

First they were involved in a political matter of controlling a U.S port . , then Halliburton moved its headquarters there and now GE is boasting of its investments in Dubai.

Call me a protectionist but I will be the first to say that globalization and outsourcing are robbing Americans of high paying jobs.

It's not robbing jobs from Americans. Its probably easier for Americans to get a job here in Dubai than the US. With 400,000 jobs created every year here and a 5mn population with 15% local population, its the Americans, Brits and Europeans that get the best jobs here. Americans don't just compete equally with the rest in the UAE job market but often have the upper hand because they often come from skilled and experienced backgrounds.

On the other hand, a lot of former nobodies from Europe become filthy rich and famous when they come here. It really is the city of dreams - for some
